Book Title or Series Title: Twilight Hunger
Author: Maggie Shayne
Genre: Science Fiction/ Romance
General Premise: It's about a screenwriter named Morgan, who finds old journals in her attic. The journals are about a man who believes himself to be a vampire. His name is Dante. She makes movies based on the journals and ends up rich because of it. She starts dreaming of him and the fantasies are really vivid and real. What she doesn't know is he really is a vampire and he's pretty much watching her. She wants him, he wants her and yeah.
What you like about book: It's a vampire story, duh. Okay really, it's really easy to imagine and you just get caught up in the book. It's amazing. READ IT!!!!!
What you don't like about book: I pretty much like everything.
Warnings: Umm... sexual content and language.
Read it, I loved it personally.

I was checking up on a spoof comic of it and the first comic from the author in like a month was a tribute to him and I just like oh my gosh...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....and I mean that quite literally...I am absolutely in love with that series it was sooooooo incredible and now it will never continue.....I'm in mourning....I think I'm going to wear black tomarrow.....cause I'm lame like that......
On a completely different and happier note! It turns out that in my XC race on tuesday I ran fast enough to make the JV team!!!!!! WHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! lets see how long I can hold my spot....grrrr.....
Back to RJ...this news comes just a day too late...if I had known this yesterday I could have put this down on my list of roadblocks and grief for health class instead of having to make up some story about how I shall be discriminated for life because of being left handed having too brown of hair and too green of eyes..... and I shall end up as a hobo who sells hats.......

Book Title or Series Title: Stranger in a strange land, only one book
Author:Robert A. Heinlein
Genre:Science fiction
General Premise: One mars mission goes to Mars and never comes back. Another goes and finds that there was a child born on the first one and that he was raised by Martians. They bring him back to Earth and he is most naive. He has never seen a Woman nor knows of human religion. He also is the legal heir to an enormous financial empire and the de facto owner of the planet Mars. Through the book he falls in love with a hospital nurse, founds a religion, and works as a circus carney. Enjoy.
What you like about book: This book is for those intellectuals and science fiction lovers who have accidentally stumbled onto this site :)
It has a lot of stuff about the nature of the mind and there is a lot of running from the law, all in good fun. There are strange mental powers that you learn about that the martians can do in addition to their afterlife.
What you don't like about book: The main character, Valentine Michael smith dies in the end of the book. I find that books can be a little bit of a let down when the story leads up to the death of the main character, but take that in stride. They make soup out of him and you see him in heaven.
Warnings: You do see a mummified body and a religion of christianity that involves hunting and killing "nonbelievers"

Book Title or Series Title: The Looking Glass Wars Author: Frank Beddor Genre: Fantasy General Premise: This is basically the true story of Alice in Wonderland. Alyss is the princess of hearts, but her evil aunt wants to take over the queendom. Alyss escapes to our world where she tells Lewis Carroll of her story before she is whisked back to save her people. poor kid. What you like about book: This puts an intersting spin on an older story for children and transforms it into, well, something a whole lot cooler. What you don't like about book: Some slow parts, but necessary to the plot Warnings: uuuuhhhhh..... evil queens trying to take over equals a bit of blood and guts but nothing too graphic
This book is basically totally awesome!!!!!! The sequal is called "Seeing Redd" except I haven't redd it (pun intended) and it will probably be awesome!!

Hello there, peoples-persons! Here's one of my personal favourites... Book Title or Series Title: The Guns of the South Author: Harry Turtledove Genre: Science Fiction / Alternate History General Premise: The year is 1864. The American Civil War has turned against the Confederacy, but unexpectedly, a miracle occurs: Time traveling (racist) South Africans from the year 2014 arrive and supply the Confederate Army with an amazing rifle called an AK-47... What you like about book: Though the premise is undoubtedly strange, it is a fascinating read. Of course, the battle scenes are top notch, but that's only the first third of the book! This book makes it abundantly clear that winning the war is easy - the hard part is getting the country to work after the war, and not even AK-47s can do that! This book was an entertaining and fascinating read, but more importantly, it made me think. I came to appreciate how everything in life is a product of an infinite number of variables; that any single action has a plethora of reactions. After reading this book, I thought of history not as a straight time line, but more of a railroad switch-yard with hundreds of tracks branching into each other. History as we know it was just a random combination of tracks a train took in this switch-yard, choosing one path out of millions of different possibilities. What you don't like about book: The lack of suspense in the beginning of the book. I'm not giving away anything by telling you that the Confederacy wins the Civil War - it's kind of hard not to win when you have automatic weapons and the enemy doesn't! Warnings: Epic battle sequences, language, sex, and really racist time-traveling South African gits... with AK-47s! Tim the Enchanter

I highly recommend these:
Book Title or Series Title: All Creatures Great and Small series Author: James Harriot
Genre: Semi-autobiographical/memoirs
General Premise: A veterinarian recalls various happenings from his career, which began in the '30s. I believe All Things Wise and Wonderful is about his time in the RAF, and I want to say that another of the books involves him being on some sort of trip to Russia or something like that... (I think it's The Lord God Made Them All
What you like about the books: They portray all different sides of life from heartwarming incidents (such as when he is able to save a difficult case) to absurd (Granville Bennett and Mrs. Pumphrey, and even Harriot's boss(called Siegfried Farnon in the books) in some cases) to frustrating (on his first call, if I remember correctly, he is obliged to put a horse down, to the extreme anger of the man left in charge while his employer, the horse's owner, was away) to funny (such as the story where Siegfried closes by saying "I wonder how the laboratory is making out, testing that ointment for Johnnes disease.") to sad (when someone loses their beloved pet. Plus, there's generally a different story in each chapter, so it's easy to pick up and put down again if you only have a short time to read. He also makes some general observations about humankind, such as portraying the determination of a woman who refuses to lose her precious calves, the stoic attitude of the Yorkshire people, and a few slightly humorous ones--such as the rule that people in big houses have little dogs and vice versa.
What you don't like about the books: Not much... I do find the language (see warning) a little annoying sometimes. And, of course, the frustrating and absurd moments cause me to cringe sometimes, though that is to be expected. You might be annoyed by the accents.
Warnings: Some strong language. (When I first read this book several years ago, I kind of got reprimanded for trying to read an interesting passage to my dad, because I didn't realize that some of the language was bad... I don't know why, but I didn't) Mostly mild cursing, quite a few references to a word that basically means manure, some of the time in reference to manure. People get drunk and embarrassing circumstances sometimes ensue (the practice loses a customer when Harriot unintentionally shows up drunk to an appointment with some very prim and proper Methodists). There isn't really any sexuality, though he does get married and have children in the course of the books and there are some somewhat detailed descriptions of some of the operations, including some calvings and lambings and that sort of thing.

Book Title or Series Title: The Sisters Grimm
Author: Micheal Buckly
Genre: Fantasy
It's about these sisters whose parents mysteriously are kidnapped. The girls soon go to live with their only living reletive a Grandmother that they never knew they had. They soon discover that their new home FairyPort landing is also the home to hundreds of Fairy tale creatures. Some good and some nt so nice.
Ok so I read childish books. But the series is actually really good despite my dispicable summery thing.

I have four Discworld books left to read: Faust/Eric, Reaper Man, Witches Abroad, and Small Gods! Plus, I haven't read any of the Disc YA books (Tiffany Aching and the Amazing Maurice).
One of my favorite quotes, from Soul Music: "I'm mean and turf and I'm mean and turf and I'm mean and turf and I'm mean and turf And me and my friends can walk towards you with our hats on backward in a menacing way Yo!" -"rat" music.
Yes, and the Dean's robe: "BORN TO RUNE" "LIVE FATS DIE YO GNU"
Spoiler: Imp y Celyn is ... **
Here's another recommendation:
Book Title or Series Title: Fly By Night
Author: Francis Hardinge
Genre: Fantasy, sort of.
General Premise: In a world where the "realm" is fragmented, ruled by a half-crazed duke*, a young orphan named Mosca Mye runs away with a con-man named Eponymous Clent. The place has been wracked by revolution and there are still various rival factions. The common people worship these Goodmen and Goodwomen, who own various days (Mosca was given her unfortunate name due to the day she was born on, secret to she who keeps away houseflies). No one is quite sure who to trust within the government. Written materials are strictly regulated and a rogue school must hide from everyone. The Locksmiths' Guild and the Stationers' Guild hold great deals of power in different regions and whether or not a mysterious group of people called the Birdcatchers, who were involved in a not so long ago civil revolution are quite good or bad no one knows.
What you like about book: I think this is one for Lemony Snicket fans; some mysteries are left unsolved and there is quite a bit of word play (there's even a character named, I believe, Linden Kohlrabi)
What you don't like about book: I think it's quite possible to come away from the book feeling rather agnostic.
Warnings: I can't really think of any...
*Perhaps he should be hung up beside his teacake, along with Cosmo Lavish and Mad Lord Snapcase. I want a picture drawn for me of Lord Snapcase freaking out because he is hanging upside down (ala a vampire) alongside his teacake.
**Bud(dy) Holly. At first I was thinking Celyn might actually be Eregion, but it isn't.

Mouse-- I LOVE that 'rat music.' Also, the best crazed duke in Discworld is from "Wyrd Sisters." Love that crazy guy! With the hand-scrubbing... mmm, revolting. And then there's the Duc, who's actually a frog... Incidentally, have you seen the MOVIE of Wyrd Sisters? It's totally on youtube. It's rather badly animated, but I like it. Also, there's an animated movie of Soul Music (which I feel works much better as a movie in some places.) First part of Wyrd Sisters: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJdm1qju7rgParts two through twelve can also be found on this account. Parts thirteen through fifteen are posted by a different account, called Koden. Part one of Soul Music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOrMcN6SfHY

I also love the 'rat' music even though I cannot abide rap. Okay, my question about Discworld is: Does Moist visit UU during Going Postal to consult a professor? I say no; I've only read GP twice and I don't have it at the moment. Someone else says yes. Also, I guess I haven't read the Last Hero. Is that a Discworld *novel*, anyway? Further more I keep reading "fornication" rather than "fortification" due to the fact that I just reread Making Money.

Mouse, yep, Moist does go to UU... Or atleast from what I can remember. He goes to ask about the post office... And he gets strapped onto a machine that'll find him the book he needs... Or something... OH NO! NOW NO ONE WILL KNOW HOW THE SERIES WILL END! Well, not really. Here's the quote from Wikipedia: With Jordan's death on 16 September 2007, the conclusion of the series was in question. On 7 December of that year, the publisher, Tor Books, announced that fantasy author Brandon Sanderson would finish A Memory of Light, using notes, written chapters, and audio recordings of the story provided by Robert Jordan before his passing
Sanderson has said on his website he has begun writing the final book in the series. He also stated that he wants to finish the series in the final book as planned, but later acknowledged that the book may be up to half again his originally-planned length, and publishing in one volume may not be practical. ~BB

Oh well....
Oh, for some reason that reminds me that I read the other day in the USA Today (hmmmhmmmm... Anyone know the song by Alan Jackson? anyway...) that Eoin Colfer (the author of the Artemis Fowl series, Half Moon Investigations, The Supernaturalists, Airman, etc.) is slated to continue the Hitchhiker's Guide Series!
