Okay, yeah!
The first scene: I loved it. Immensely. I thought it was one of the best scenes in the movie. It was just... brilliant.
Kraken: I have very little to say about this that has not already been said. Hello. My name is Kiren Brockett. You killed my cephalopod. Prepare to die.
Human Davy: I was terrified that they were going to make him turn back into that at the end of the movie. That would have ruined Davy Jones for me forever.
Beckett's Death: Again, phenomenal.
Tia Dalma: I've always hated her, the fickle, manipulative little thing. And I still hate her. Does anyone know what she said as Calypso?
Barbossa: Very nice. Very in character.
Multiple Jacks: Clever and fun. Yay!
Teague Sparrow: What the heck? I hated this. It was so utterly pointless, so ridiculously inane... I would have much preferred it if Jack's dad had been some sissy working for the East India Trading Company who was very ashamed of his son, but who Jack saved at the last minute. Him being a pirate just doesn't work. Jack as a teenager worked for Beckett and only became a pirate because he was branded as such. Do tell me how that works if his father was a pirate.
Missing things: Jack correcting people on his title, Beckett's mark, and a bit of backstory.
Clarification: In case you haven't already found this online or noticed it yourself.... the curse was broken at the end of the movie because Elizabeth stayed faithful, the reason he had to carve out his heart was that Davy Jones had set a curse on his heart when he put it in the chest, the whirlpool was caused by Calypso not being able to decide who to give the favorable wind to, Ragetti was carving another wooden eye during his last scene, and Aqua Vitae, or however you spell whatever it was that was on the Fountain of Youth Chart, is what some people called liquor.
In other news... pirateyness is a wonderful thing. THE KRAKEN WAS MY FAVORITE CEPHALOPOD!!!!!! Now you know things about me.

first scene: made me want to cry human davy: normal...better with cephalopod head Beckett's Death: Again, again, phenomenal Tia Dalma: i kinda liked her in dmc, she was kinda annoying in this one...what DID she say? Barbossa: only one thing *as Barbossa* HAHAHHAHAH!!! ie, he was AWSOME!!! Multiple Jacks: not enough XD Teague Sparrow: i agree, but i did like the "how's mom" thing Missing things: yes, yes, yes, Jack calling Will a unick Clarification: "In case you haven't already found this online or noticed it yourself.... the curse was broken at the end of the movie because Elizabeth stayed faithful" huh?
so, in conclusion, one word: [glow=purple,2,300]AWSOME[/glow]

Yeah, as far as the Clarification goes, there is actually a deleted scene in the movie where Tia Dalma is talking to Davy Jones about that. Another reason that Davy feels that Tia Dalma betrayed him was because that she didn't stay faithful to him for the 10 years. Since she didn't, Davy Jones was forced to return to his duty. Since Elizabeth stayed faithful, Will can actually go back to his former life after the ten years... 'cept I don't think he gets his heart back. ^^; Not so sure about that.
Teague Sparrow: I love that guy. And what you are saying, Aku, isn't that very similar to what happened to Will? =o The guy grew up as a blacksmith, but his father was a pirate. He became a pirate after Jack told him that he had pirate blood in his veins.

AWEsomeness... I just got the pun.
Oh my gosh, I loved this movie. I smiled the whole way through... except for one part. When Norrington died, I started crying, and I don't know why. I mean, I knew Bootstrap would kill him, but I didn't know Norrington would actually be selfless and good first. I thought Bootstrap would be all heroic by killing Norry (even though Norry was my second-favourite character after Ragetti, I could accept it in the name of good), but instead, it was just... terribly sad.
Okay, I loved Teague. I thought he was hilarious. The purpose of Teague was to show how Johnny Depp paid homage to Keith Richards (the rock star who plays Teague) in his characterization of Cap'n Sparrow.
At one point in the movie, some guy is like, "This is madness!" And I go "This is SPARTAAAA!" a little bit too loudly... and people laughed. Also, that one part where everyone was voting on who got to be the new pirate king and everyone was saying their names, I went, "Dumbledore!"
I loved that high-pitched bearded pirate lord. He was hilarious.
Ragetti was really cool in this movie. He's always been my favourite, but he was especially good in this one. His eyepatch was so cute, and the part where he was whispering 'like a lover' was rather adorable. I can just imagine what his girlfriend would be like... The part where he said 'boat!' was my favourite. Pintel giving orders when Jack and Barbossa were fighting was also fun.
I actually really liked Tia Dalma in this movie. I don't know why people didn't... I thought the whole Calypso/Davy thing was really cool; brought an interesting parallel to Willizabeth.
Speaking of Willizabeth, I've never really cared for those two, but Will was a little bit cooler than usual in this movie. He seemed more confident, more laid-back, and less tense... and he had an earring. I was vastly amused by the tea party with Beckett. I still think he'd be a really lame captain of the Flying Dutchman, though. But Elizabeth was kind of annoying in this one. She was nothing like her character from the first movie... too tough and trouser-wearing.
The 'wedding' scene was hysterical, though. That was my favourite part of the entire movie. If I ever get married, that's how I want mine... not really, but it was amazing. Barbossa was fantastic throughout the whole film.
Did the reocurring line 'sea turtles' crack anyone else up? When Teague said it, I nearly died... and Gibbs at the end with the teddy bear and Scarlett and Giselle.
TIA DALMA HAS CRABS... that's what you get for having an aquatic boyfriend.
The part where Governor Swannn died was really sad.... and I spelled 'Swann' with three 'n's, didn't I? In any case, I felt really bad for Elizabeth.
Beckett really stole the show. He was so cool, with his diabolical little tea parties and everything. He's always reminded me of Draco Malfoy, actually, and his death was really, well, well-staged. I thought it was fascinating how it showed that he had never prepared himself for failure, and that he still couldn't believe that it could happen to him, even as he was dying. The most interesting thing about Beckett, though, is that he has a very innocent, angelic-looking face, and very childish lips. It provides an interesting contrast to his completely cold and sociopathic personality.
The Kraken dying was so sad... the way Beckett talked about how he made Davy Jones kill his pet in such a dispassionate manner. Watching Davy wipe a tear from his eye with his tentacle was heartrending. He looked so cool as a human... I liked his beard. But I'm glad he didn't transform back for good.
Sao Feng was kind of pointless, but he was still a great character, very dramatic. And Elizabeth as Pirate King was awesome.
One of my favourite parts of all was when those two British guard dudes joined the pirates and tried to act as pirate-y as possible. Those guys are OUTRAGEOUS. Also very funny were Jack's hallucinations, especially the one that was... interested in the goat.
The first scene was really, really good, although I noticed that the boy with the fantastic singing voice had braces... not very canon-compliant, considering the time period. Ah well. It was rather like "always look on the bright side of life," wasn't it? I loved the part where the guy said to Beckett, "Ummm... they're singing..."
I also liked the last scene, where Will returns home to Elizabeth and their adorable son with the Green Flash. It's nice that they get to be together.
The mark that Jack left on Beckett probably just meant that he was the one who made Beckett want to kill all pirates. I don't think we should read TOO much into it. I doubt it was that important. The main plot hole that I spotted was why in the 2nd movie Elizabeth's compass would point at Jack. Seeing as no romantic situation was ever addressed in the 3rd film, I assume that maybe Elizabeth's heart's desire was to be married, because she'd missed her wedding night. And it just pointed to Jack because he could conduct a marri-age, being the captain of the ship?
All in all, I thought it was an AMAZING movie, and much better than the second one. (I do like the second one very much; however, this film's much better.) It was laugh-out-loud funny, had unexpected plot twists, good character development, sea battles, and... lots of dying, but that's not the point. I plan on seeing this movie several more times!
CHARTMAN!

Yes, but it would have been funnier, in that case, if Jack hadn't known his father was a pirate, and had an "Oh my gosh, that's my dad!" reaction when Teague had shown up. It also would have made a lot more sense. Something else that bothers me about Teague: his whole omniscient, father-figure thing. I would expect Jack's dad to start his line about "It's not living forever..." and then either end with something stupid or collapse on the floor drunk. Or both.
I'm amused, Vam, that you spelled "awesomeness" wrong.
You're right- he doesn't call Will a eunuch.

Oh I edited my post, by the way.
Yes, I wish he would call Will a eunuch more. And yes, Teague should have collapsed drunk... that would be VERY in-character. But I think he DID do the 'stupid line' thing with the shrunken head thing.

Heh. We posted at the same time. Anyway...
My original theory was right all along, I think. The compass pointed to Jack because he was why Will was on the Dutchman. That's why it started happening right after James brought that up.
My mom still thinks Jack is in love with Elizabeth. I... don't. XP
Yeah.
I still hate Tia Dalma. Always have, always shall. She doesn't deserve Davy Jones.

I don't think Jack was ever in love with Elizabeth; however, I do think he had quite a crush on her. Then again, that's probably his attitude toward most females. He's that kind of person.
On the other hand, I think Norrington genuinely loved her, which makes it all the more heartbreaking. His character goes through so many changes, and I think throughout the entire trilogy, he was madly in love with Elizabeth. He's a very overlooked character, but one of my favourites.
(And does anyone else think he looks different in the third movie than in the first? I can't put my finger on how, but he does. And I just rewatched the first film the day before seeing Pirates 3, so I had a clear image of him in mind.)

I love the Norrington. He's just so brilliantly cool. And heartbroken. And stuff.
Yes, he looks different. Probably a different wig. Definitely a different uniform.
I do seem to remember YOU insisting that Elizabeth was in love with Jack, though.

At the time of the second movie, I was worried that she was in love with Jack. I didn't want her to be, but I thought perhaps she was, because of the confoozin' compass. I didn't think Jack 'loved' her, because I don't see him as a 'loving' person... but I was afraid that she would end up with him. (I like Jack a lot more than Will, but I don't think he's right for Liz.)
However, I saw AWE, and went, "Oh, good. Liz doesn't love Jack."
Remember when we went to see the first film and we didn't think we'd like it? Heheehe

Yep.
See, I think with me, it's like how I feel about the Phantom of the Opera ships. I like the Phantom a great deal more than Raoul, but I prefer Raoul and Christine as the couple.
I can't see Jack ever settling down with one woman. Ever.

Yes, I agree completely on both counts. You get karma for that.
Also, in "Hunchback of Notre Dame," it's the opposite. Phoebus ends up with Esmerelda, and I like Phoebus better, but I think Quasimodo deserved her more. (Here, I'm talking about the film... the book's way different.)

Ooooooh! Karma!
I would think the HoND thing is the same as the PotO and PotC things (drowning in acronyms, here!) since you want the character you don't like as much to end up with the girl.
I shall now proceed to imagine a game of Jeopardy featuring various PotC characters as the contestants... they can also attend the Jedi basketball game that Frik and I were talking about in gym.

Well, the opposite thing with Hond was that the pairing I liked DIDN'T happen, and the character I liked more got the girl. Whereas Jack/Erik didn't get Elizabeth/Christine.
But Erik did get a fluffy shirt!

Have you seen HoND 2? It's hilariously bad. Quasi does get a girl. She'd perky and blonde and probably about sixteen. XP
"I've made my choice. What's yours?" "Barbossa! Marry..."
Scary moments in theater.

I've never seen HoND2 (I had no desire to; I never watch Disney sequels, though I now want to watch Lion King 2), but I've seen clips from it, and it does seem lame. Although I like the blonde girl's haircut-- it's short, unlike all the other princesses (with the possible exception of Snow White. I personally think she has short hair, but my sister says it's up.)
