Thanks to Remora (well, kinda) I've been listening to
Sam's Town over and over again. You all will know that Mouse is officially obsessed with an album/song/book when she begins to think up sock designs for all the songs (first, heads of houses, the fellowship of the ring in LOTR, The Tragic Treasury, Genevieve(a song by Sugarland),
Les Miserables (Valjean, Eponine, Marius, and Cosette have designs so far (and, thank you, Voldemort! (I'm addicted to parentheses!))), and now
Sam's Town(except for the enterlude, exitlude, and Uncle Jonny, because I don't particularly care for the latter, and the others are short... but maybe. I wouldn't have done "Bones" either, but I had an intriguing idea.)) This started when I was writing a report on Les Miserables and listening to Sam's Town, and I started out with "This River is Wild", then went on to "Bling (Confessions of a King)" (although I don't like the word bling!)))}
I think the parentheses are getting out of hand. Anyway, I will post a couple songs now:
This River is Wild:
Leaves are falling down on the beautiful ground
I heard a story from a man in red
He said the leaves are falling down, such a beautiful sound
Son, I think you better go ahead
But you always hold your head up high
Cause it's a long, long, long way down
This town was meant for passing through
Boy, it ain't nothing new
Now go and show 'em that the world stayed round
But it's a long, long, long way down
You better run for the hills before they burn
Listen to the sound of the world and watch it turn
I just wanna show you what I know
And catch you when the current lets you go
Or should I just get along with myself
I never did get along with everybody else
I've been trying hard to do what's right
But you know, I could stay here all night
And watch the clouds fall from the sky
This river is wild
This river is wild
Run for the hills before they burn
Listen to the sound of the world then watch it turn
Shake a little
Sometimes I'm nervous when I talk
I shake a little
Sometimes I hate it the line I walk
I just wanna show you what I know
And catch you when the current lets you go
Or should I just get along with myself
I never did get along with everybody else
I've been trying hard to do what's right
But you know I could stay here all night
And watch the clouds fall from the sky
Because this river is wild
Godspeed ya, boy!
This river is wild
Now Adam's taking bombs
(And I will skip the rest of that verse because not only do I not care for it but it contains a word that will most certainly be censored)...to get some of that little girl play
You better run for the hills before they burn
Listen to the sound of the world and watch it turn
I just want to show you what I know
And catch you when the current lets you go
Or should I just get along with myself
I never did get along with everybody else
I've been trying hard to do what's right
But you know I could stay here all night
And watch the clouds fall from the sky
The pain is h*ll in me tonight
Because this river is wild
Godspeed ya boy
This river is wild
This river is wild
Godspeed ya boy
This river is wild
Now the cards are everywhere
*apparently this is the next lyric, but I thought it was something different, read the lyrics, and now don't remember what I thought it was*face in dust, the fairground
I don't think I ever seen so many headlights
But there's something pulling me
The circus and the crew
Well, they're just passing through
Making sure the merry still goes round
But it's a long long long way down...

Read My Mind
On the corner of main street
Just tryin' to keep it in line
You say you wanna move on and
You say I'm falling behind
Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?
I never really gave up on
Breakin' out of this two-star town
I got the green light
I got a little fight
I'm gonna turn this thing around
Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?
The good old days
The honest man
The restless heart
The promised land
A subtle kiss
that no one sees;
A broken wrist
and a picture piece
Oh well I don't mind, if you don't mind
'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine
Before you go, can you read my mind?
It’s funny how you just break down
Waitin' on some sun
I pull up to the front of your driveway
With magic soakin' my spine (the fiber addict in me always thinks that's "with magic silk in")
Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?
The teenage queen
The loaded gun
The drop dead drink,
The chosen one
A southern drawl,
A world unseen;
A city wall
And a trampoline
Oh-oh I don't mind and you don't mind
'Cause I don't shine and you don't shine
Before you jump
Tell me what you find
When you read my mind
Slippin’ in my faith until I fall
You never returned that call
Woman, open the door, don't let it sting
I wanna breathe that fire again
She said I don't mind and you don't mind
'Cause I don't shine and you don't shine
Put your back on me
Put your back on me
Put your back on me
The stars are blazing like
Gravel (or rebel, perhaps?) diamonds
Cut out of the sun
When you read my mind
