Ohhh, my parents rented it....I was soooooo angry during the whole movie....even without comparing it to the book the movie was still really bad...toss in "he whose name I shall not mention" and really bad acting/plot/mutilation of book and you can easily see why so few people like it......
I've read the first book at least 12 time....only read the second one 3 times....and there is still absolutely no word about the third.....stupid author....

I'm really curious about Eragon. Because I've heard so much about it being absolutely horrid, I've always had this dark longing to watch the film. I mean, not to offend you because this is only personal preference, but I've never liked the Inheritance books. I tried to get into them, but I just couldn't make myself care about the characters or the plot. I like fantasy with normal people who happen to be in abnormal circumstances... it makes the stories feel more real.

You can insult them all you want! i don't care....I think the only reason I was truely able to enjoy them as much as I did was because of the completely awesome dragons...... once you start looking at the plot they become appallingly lacking.....
THATS WHY I NOW ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE WHEEL OF TIME SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I also had a kind of longing to see the movie....if only so that I could add more reasons for hating it to my list

"Wheel of Time" doesn't really appeal to me, either, but it does sound like a series that's well-written and well-planned, even if it's not my style. And the characters are fun to draw as well! *Brandishes doodle of Mat, Lanfear, and Perrin (who ate all of the molasses)*

(Copied from Wikipedia, since I've never actually read the books myself and they don't really appeal to me.)
The Wheel of Time (abbreviated by fans to WoT or less commonly, tWoT) is a bestselling fantasy book series written by Robert Jordan. It is known for the extreme density of its plot, the intricate detail of its imaginary world and constructed languages, and complexity of relationships and interactions among characters. There are 11 books in the series so far. Books 8-11 have each reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, and most of the books have been on the list at one time or another. The series has spawned several games, and even a soundtrack.
In the beginning, the Creator made the Wheel of Time, which spins the Pattern of the Ages using the lives of men and women as its threads. The Wheel has seven spokes, each representing an age, and it is rotated by the True Source from which the One Power, a source of energy, is drawn. The One Power is divided into male and female halves, saidin and saidar, which work in opposition and in unison to drive the Wheel; those who can use this power are known as channelers. One organization of channelers is the Aes Sedai, a name meaning "Servants of All" in the Old Tongue.
The Creator imprisoned Shai'tan, known as the Dark One, a powerful, evil being, at the moment of creation, sealing him away from the Wheel. At some point, however, the Dark One was given purchase in the world through the machinations of people who unwittingly opened his prison by drilling into it, using the One Power, and began his efforts to conquer the world, creation, even the Wheel itself. In response to this, the Wheel spun out the Dragon, a channeler of immense power, to be a champion for the Light.
Due to the cyclical nature of the Wheel, there can be no definitive victory for the forces of the Light; the war has been fought innumerable times since the dawn of Creation. The Dragon would defeat Shai'tan and seal him from the Wheel, only to be reborn and repeat the process several millennia later.
Robert Jordan's novels concern themselves with one particular incarnation of the Dragon. About 3000 years have passed since the last war between Shai'tan and the Light. This war ended when the Dragon, then born as Lews Therin Telamon, led a daring raid to Shayol Ghul and sealed the breach in the Dark One's prison with the help of a group of other male channelers known as the Hundred Companions. Female channelers had refused to assist, believing the risk of backfire too great to chance. Indeed, though the Dark One was re-imprisoned, he managed to spread a taint on saidin itself, bringing madness and a wasting sickness to any who channeled it. The taint quickly overcame every male channeler in the world, including Lews Therin and his companions, with catastrophic results that radically changed the face of the world - referred to, in the book, as 'Breaking of the World'. From then onwards, Lews Therin was also called the "Kinslayer", as one of the first results of his madness was to destroy everyone close to him - family, friends, aquiantances - all of them.
For these reasons, the return of the Dragon is a cause for both hope and fear. On the one hand, the Dragon Reborn is the only person capable of defeating Shai'tan, who is once again reaching beyond his prison. On the other, the Dragon Reborn will still be prey to the madness caused by the taint of evil in saidin. The only man who can save the world is also the man most likely to destroy it.
Rand al'Thor, Perrin Aybara, and Matrim Cauthon are young men from the Two Rivers in Andor. They are identified by Siuan Sanche as ta'veren—focal points about which the Wheel of Time weaves. Events swirl unpredictably about them, sometimes forcing others to follow them, sometimes forcing them to follow their destiny.
[edit] Rand al'Thor Main article: Rand al'Thor The adopted son of a shepherd from the Two Rivers, Rand al'Thor is the son of Tigraine Mantear (former daughter-heir of Andor) and Aiel clan chief Janduin.
He can channel the One Power, a trait that (until quite recently) guaranteed death and madness. He drew the crystal sword Callandor from the Stone of Tear and proclaimed himself the Dragon Reborn; in this capacity he is also the subject of a great many prophecies and legends, many of which promise salvation (or at least survival) from the Dark One.
His titles are King of Illian, Dragon Reborn, Coramoor of the Sea Folk, True Defender of the Light, Lord of the Morning and Prince of the Dawn and is listened to (if not always respected) in the courts of many other nations. To the Aiel he is also known as the Car'a'carn, and He Who Comes With The Dawn. He is referred to as 'Shadowkiller' by wolves. He commands the Asha'man of the Black Tower, and controls the Legion of the Dragon. He has cleansed the Dark One's taint from the Source.
[edit] Perrin Aybara Main article: Perrin Aybara Born and trained a blacksmith in the Two Rivers, Perrin was swept up along with Mat and Rand. He has discovered an uncanny ability to communicate with wolves; as Wolfbrother to them, his name is Young Bull.
Positions of ever-increasing authority have been thrust upon him, and he is now known to his followers as Lord Perrin Goldeneyes. His wife, the Lady Faile ni Bashere t'Aybara, was captured by Shaido Aiel; she remained their captive, until Perrin had allied with the Seanchan, promising them plenty of damane, rescued her.
[edit] Matrim Cauthon Main article: Matrim Cauthon In the Two Rivers Mat was something of a prankster. Since leaving home, he has developed an utterly astounding lucky streak. All ta'veren bend chance, but Mat's luck almost always works in his favor.
Mat sounded the legendary Horn of Valere at Falme, summoning heroes of legend to throw back the Seanchan invaders. Like Rand and Perrin, he has found himself in positions of ever-increasing leadership, however unwilling he might be.
Since parting ways with Rand al'Thor, he leads the Band of the Red Hand, basically his own personal army, with astounding skill and luck. Before Mat Cauthon's time, The Band of the Red Hand was a legendary group of heroes that fell in the defense of Manetheren. It is said that a spring rose where they fell, but some believe differently.
