This should be fun. Actually, let's just make this American Idol in general.

I like Sanjaya. I don't think he's close to being the most talented-- that would be Melinda Doolittle-- but I tend to root for the sort of 'underdog' types. I've only read negative press about him in the past, and just think how much that's got to hurt a seventeen-year-old who's very good for his age, being nationally slandered.
He has a pleasant and unassuming manner, and he's different. I don't want him to win, because that would be unfair, but I don't want him to be voted off!

Another thing that causes me to support Sanjaya is that he was one of the stand-outs in the original audition, and I like to stick with one 'favourite' who I follow until he or she gets kicked off. Even if he's not the best in the Top 6, he was definitely one of the best in the auditions, and I'm sure lots of other Americans agree.

Urkkkk... i personally think he's one of the worst (as does the majority of the country)...although i dislike reality shows in general (gimme a good episode of "Mythbusters" anyday), that doesn't mean i can escape watching it. here's a site you might find intresting www.votefortheworst.com/You may have heard of it...

Yes, I've heard of it, and I believe it's solely the reason why Sanjaya stayed on the show for so long. I kind of wish he wasn't on for so long because he received SO MUCH bad press. He's pretty young, and it must have been brutal to receive so much criticism when he's really quite good for a seventeen-year-old.
To be honest, I haven't watched American Idol for about ten weeks (I just ask my dad who got kicked off), so I can't say whose performances have been the most consistent. I do think Melinda has the most talent, though, and I'm guessing she'll win.

I used to like Sanjaya, but then when he got to the top 12 I absolutely hated him. Though it must be hard for a 17 year old to deal with so much insults, though he took them well. I must say though I quite loved his hair styles and his hula cracked me up. Personally Blake's my favorite. He's awesome.

Blake is indeed cool, and he's original as well. I like his choice in pants... plus he performed "Somewhere Only We Know," by Keane, which is one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands. And he did it quite well.
Plus, I think his "Season For Loving" was better than the original. (Don't tell the Doors I said that!)

I love Blake's pants... they're usually plaid and awesome. It's still kind of funny Melinda's shocked when she finds out she does good.

I see American Idol has officially become big enough to debate over -_-
Let's cancel the show all together. You get more fame when you get kicked off than by winning so whats the point?

I think the whole Sanjaya thing has proved that its just a popularity contest, and people will only vote for talent when Simon threatens to leave the show.

Weelllll... I think that it's like that in the real world of the music industry as well. Think of most popular singers. Most of them don't have great voices. Even on Broadway or in the recording cast of voice-over actors in an animated musical, most of the singers are subpar compared to even a lot of singers in HIGH SCHOOL. Case in point: When Belle sings the word 'be' in "Beauty and the Beast" on the song "Something There That Wasn't There Before," it was enough to make any voice teacher scream for mercy and possibly kill himself.
It's all about the package-- looks (mostly that), stage presence, personality presented to the public, physical coordination, hairstyle and wardrobe, advertising, etc. You might be saying that the voice-over actor thing doesn't apply because it's only about their voice, but most voice-over actors today aren't just voice-over actors. After all, nowadays, no one wants to see an animated movie unless someone FAMOUS voices the characters, goshdarnit. And yet, think of all of the great singing voices who aren't famous. The same voice actress voices Mulan, Jasmine, and Pocahontas, and she's great.
Whoa, now I'm ridiculously off-topic...

Heh, strange hair.
Reminds me of last season, when Ace, another guy I felt was known for his hair, got voted off the one show that he pulled his hair back. I loved that. xD
