O.K I understand Aku’s reasoning for her ban on profanity on the site but now I think it has gone too far…I believe that we should at least be able to have an avatar or something in your signature with one “Bad” word without persecution and having your account defiled…One of the reasons why so many members have left the site was the lack of freedom between the staff and members…Yup…

I'm voting 'no,' not just because I dislike foul language (that's a personal preference, and so not of importance), but because I want my little brother and sister to be able to look at this site and I want my parents to let me use this site, and I want kids who stumble across this site to be able to view it without seeing something that's not appropriate for them. I remember when I was eight ending up on a site with bad words and being TOTALLY shocked.
I do agree that it's kind of mean for Aku to defile your account, but the thing is, she's warned you several times before. She wants you to get the picture and not keep trying to get the words past her. There's lots of cool icons with no curse words-- for example, the ones in your profile right now.
Hey, this isn't a democracy, it's an Akuocracy.

Hmmm...You make a point..Still....This isnt realy a "Kids" site I think the youngest people on the site are Catherine and myself, though you do put up a good point for wanting to be able to have your parents and your sibblings go on the site the main reason would be why are they on the site in the first place..On normal ocasions they wouldnt be here inless something weird happned..Next its imposible to "Stumble" on this site inless you did ALOT of searching and you knew what you were looking for.....Either way it is your opinion....

The youngest person on it is Abbeyjewel, who just turned thirteen, but oh well. The thing is, sometimes, someone will make a really funny or cool post, and I'll want to show it to my sister or brother or something. And if they see a bad word on the page, they flip out. For example, I was listening to the song "H****fire" from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (It's a Disney song, for crying out loud!), and my brother goes running off to tell my dad, "She's listening to a song with bad words in it!" Yeah, so I don't want to be told I'm not allowed on this site anymore. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Hmm.....Your sister and my sister ((And I think your brother too)) go to my school and the fact is that my school is a secondary school...with middle and high school kids the younger kids are subject to things that they wouldn’t have normally received at a regular middle school...so far that has to have mellowed them out...On the other hand everyone was brought up differently ..My parents strictly kept us in the dark when it came to profanity until 3rd grade when I learned a new word...Anyway we were told what and what not to say so that brought us to a point where we could hear a "Bad" word and not freak out about it knowing that it was that persons choice and not ours to use such language....When you curse you use that word on your own accord knowing that whoever is within the vicinity of you should be able to understand not to repeat that or at least know what you are talking about...The next thing is why would your parents stop you from doing something when its someone else’s actions ex: Don Imas was being a Jack-ass ((Sorry I had to say that because there is no other word that I can say on the site that would describe his actions..)) so they fired him..Not leaving him alone and firing another "Shock Jock" Howard Stern so to speak..Your parents should have better sense than that….They know that older kids are on the site and we weren’t raised by them so why would we act like one of their kids?

What I'm trying to say here is that no matter how many votes 'yes' you get, Aku's not going to change the language rule because it's her site. I don't mean to be rude, but that's the way it is. If you loathe the site so much, why do you keep coming back to whine about it?

I DO in fact have reasons for the cursing ban...
1. Younger kids should be able to join this site if they want to. As should adults. Neither group would particularly enjoy cursing.
2. If parents see that there is cursing on the site, they may ban their kids from it. *pokes Shannon's dead account*
3. I personally don't think people should curse in general. You never know who you might offend. In real life, that's your choice, and I won't bother you about it. But, on the Crow's Nest, your bad behavior reflects on me, since it's my site. I don't want to be percieved that way, so I don't allow people to curse.
4. Schmergo's right. I've warned you. A lot. If you continue to put foul material in posts or in your signature or avvie, there are going to be consequences. Plus, you're still not on our good list ever since that Girls' Board infiltration.
5. It's an Akucracy. Yep. Even if every person here voted yes, I would keep the ban. Sorry.
6. I also feel that exposure to curse words lessens their impact. First of all, save words like that for when you really need them, i.e. when Aku gouges out your eyes for cursing. Secondly, a lot of those words can really offend people, or can desensitize us to things we should be worried about, possibly adding to the sorry state of today's world. Plus, not cursing adds to your vocabulary, as you have to find other words to use instead.
On a completely unrelated note, have any of you ever read a book by Kim Antieau? (Like Broken Moon, Ruby's Imagine, Mercy Unbound, The Jigsaw Woman, or Coyote Cowgirl)

....
To be honest, I agree with everything Schmerg and Aku have said, for the same reasons...
Granted, I'm not very offended by it, although I dislike it, but I still think it should only be used in certain instances, like when a friend of yours has just jumped on your face by mistake in aq moonbounce, and that only merits the "s" word....and only just, mind you. Preferably cursing should never be used, and the only excusable instances are when you are in great pain, or are in a warzone....
I'd just like to leave you with this thought...Cursing is nothing more than laziness. Think about it. There are 2 kinds of people when it comes to dealing with a problem; those who will curse about it, and those who will do something about it...

Hmm, I seem to recall that you only said the 'd' word... and if Robert jumped on my face, I'd be screaming like a banshee, so that's understandable.
Of course, going by my Youth Leader's policy on cursing, nearly everything counts as a swear word. Xim once got in trouble for saying 'darn,' and that's just something that you do to socks! ("Can you give us a list of words we're not allowed to say?" "NO!")

She looks almost exactly like how I imagine Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter books, including her cardigan sweaters and tone of voice, so I always imagine her making kids write with their own blood...
I actually read "Order of the Phoenix" before she came to my church, so you can imagine my surprise the first time I saw her!
She's actually MOSTLY okay, though for some reason she really doesn't like you!

Well, she doesn't really like Nelson, so when she first met you, I think she mentally put a big red "NELSON'S FRIEND" stamp across your forehead.
She seems to generally like me, although she doesn't like my use of sarcasm. I can't begin to tell you how much I've been fined for that.

If you loathe the site so much, why do you keep coming back to whine about it? Whine? This is the first time...And I'm not having a fit about it...This is just my opinion and its just a petition I'm not expecting for it to change anything on the site..i'm just showing my own point of view on a subject...I haven't attacked anyone's morals I've just shown my opinion...It's just like the Day of Silence today...I wore my T-Shirt I said nothing during school..A bunch of people did but even though we have this protest its not going to change the fact that we live in a homophobic nation and it is shown throughout the generations of kids in highschool...I'll try to make my impact on this site ((Actually I think I have with that girl's board thing....)) until it closes down for any strange reason...Untill then..i'm just going to continue... BTW Aku..Shannon's parents kicked her off the site because they considered The Crow's Nest a chat room and didn't want her being on the next To Catch a Predator...

I know, but it just shows that parents can, in fact, ban people from this site.
So that's what the Day of Silence was about. I assumed it was for VT, but obviously, the people observing it couldn't tell me otherwise.

Oh, that's what the Day of Silence was for! One of my friends was being silent. I thought it was because she's going on the chorus trip and didn't want to lose her voice!I can be incredibly st00pid sometimes...
Broker, you should go to the GUESS THE MOVIE thread!

One of my goal when it comes to going to your Church group is to catch her in the act of a "fineable" offense.... oh, and you do know that see technically can't take you money unless she has your parents permission or your permission, since you're not buying anything and are underage.... or at least, I'm pretty sure that's right... Please post a picture of her so i can make the "Stalin" thing a reality/ (I reeeeaaaly hope she doesn't see this... ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) (this one gets the point across best..if only there was a frowning with with eyes that pop out like this one. ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ) ) oh, and yeah....today was the Day of Silence I made it my SACRED vow to force those people to talk, and generally succedded....Funny how easily your so called "values" crumble in the face of a promise of a shiny thing or 25 cents.
